Rankings, As Such

Ranking creative writing programs is a fraught enterprise because we're all so different. But here's one site that tries to quantify its results based on alumni publications in several annual "Best of" anthologies. In fact, if you sort on just fiction or poetry, we're #1 in both categories, and #2 if you include nonfiction. See the rankings here.

Rita Dove and Kyle Dargan

Dove and Dargan Win

Faculty member Rita Dove has been awarded the prestigious Wallace Stevens Award for “proven mastery” in poetry, and APPW alum Kyle Dargan the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize for the past year’s outstanding poetry book from the Academy of American Poets. See an AP release here.

Mary Beth Keane

Mary Beth Keane

MFA in Fiction (2005) Mary Beth Keane had her new novel, Ask Again, Yes selected by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as their 2019 Summer Read. See Mary Beth on the show here.
