Jennifer Chang to Visit UVA as Rea Visiting Writer in March 2027

The University of Virginia Creative Writing Program is pleased to welcome Jennifer Chang as the Rea Visiting Writer in March 2027.

An acclaimed poet and educator, Chang is the author of An Authentic Life (2025), Some Say the Lark, and The History of Anonymity. Her work is celebrated for its lyrical beauty, intellectual rigor, and insightful explorations of identity, family, memory, race, and belonging. Across her poetry, Chang brings a distinctive voice to questions of personal and collective history, inviting readers into nuanced reflections on intimacy, culture, and place.

As the Rea Visiting Writer, Chang will meet with students and faculty and present a public reading and conversation on Grounds. Her visit offers the UVA community an opportunity to engage with one of the most influential contemporary poets writing today and to learn more about the creative process behind her award-winning work.
