Novelist Rabih Alameddine lectures on "Concerning the Politics in Art." Alameddine was a National Book Award and National Book Critics’ Circle Award finalist for An Unnecessary Woman. His new novel, The Wrong End of the Telescope, is about an Arab American trans woman’s journey among Syrian refugees on Lesbos island. Alameddine comes to UVA as a Kapnick Distinguished Writer-in-Residence, a residency in the tradition of William Faulkner’s legendary time at the University of Virginia in 1957 and 1958.
