Announcing the new Kapnick Fellow in Creative Writing Charles Clateman

We are thrilled to announce the first Kapnick Fellow in Creative Writing is Charles Clateman. Charles will be joining us for the next academic year to teach and be part of our community of writers. He will give a reading from his work the first week of classes: Tuesday, August 26 at 5:00 pm in the Faculty Lounge.

Charles Clateman is a novelist of great promise, and our first Kapnick Fellow. He holds an MFA from Brown (2024), and a BA in Classics and Written Arts from Bard College (2022). His is a work of voices that contest, that battle in their becoming, and then speak joyfully, truthfully—that sometimes dissemble; it is existential work, dark, at times humorous, playful, and sharply attentive. He is as likely to draw from Bernhard as from Ashberry, from Shakespeare as from Gogol.
