Join the University of Virginia's Creative Writing Program for a reading by acclaimed novelist, critic, and essayist Garth Greenwell, one of the most celebrated voices in contemporary American fiction. Greenwell is the author of Small Rain, winner of the 2025 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, as well as the acclaimed novels Cleanness and What Belongs to You, which won the British Book Award for Debut of the Year and was longlisted for the National Book Award.
Known for his luminous prose and searching explorations of intimacy, identity, art, and human connection, Greenwell's work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Yale Review, and other leading publications. A Guggenheim Fellow and recipient of the Vursell Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, he has taught at Princeton University, the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and New York University.
This event is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the reading.
