READING: Anna Beecher & Sumita Chakraborty, Fall Faculty Reading
Date:
August 31, 2026
Time:
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location:
Bryan Hall Faculty Lounge
The Creative Writing Program at UVA invites you to a Faculty Reading with Anna Beecher, Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, and Sumita Chakraborty, Assistant Professor of Creative Writing.
Beecher, author of Here Comes the Miracle (2021) and the essay‑memoir We All Come Home Alive (2024), writes fiction attuned to the granular pressures of voice and perception, tracing how experience is registered and shaped in language. Chakraborty, a poet and scholar and author of the collection Arrow (2020), brings lyric intensity into sustained engagement with inquiry, ethics, and form. Together, their work stages a compelling range of what contemporary writing can make of thought, experience, and language.
This event is free and all are welcome.
