READING: Brian Teare and Micheline Aharonian Marcom
The Creative Writing Program at UVA invites you to a spring Faculty Reading with Brian Teare, Professor of Poetry and Director of the Poetry Writing Concentration, and Micheline Aharonian Marcom, Professor of Creative Writing and Director of the Creative Writing Program.
Teare is the author of multiple books of poetry, including Doomstead Days, winner of the Four Quartets Prize, and Poem Bitten by a Man; a Guggenheim Fellow, his work attends closely to ecology, embodiment, and the formal possibilities of lyric. Marcom is the author of eight books, including Three Apples Fell from Heaven and The New American; her honors include the Whiting Award and the PEN/USA Award for Fiction, and she was a finalist for the Neustadt International Prize for Literature.
Together their work brings into view two sustained and searching engagements with history, form, and the ethical demands of language.
